hi there, i recently uninstalled photoshop from my dell 200mmx laptop,
and when i rebooted it finished the splash screen with the progress
bar, and then bsod'd for a split second before looping back to the
start again. i think the bsod said something re: not finding a dll,
but cant be sure, also it wdoes the same in safe mode etc....the
problem is, the cd rom has packed up, so i cant boot from cd, and
although it is on a network, the network is connected to a usb/network
connector, and obviously usb wont work without windows booting... is
there any way i can make the bsod hang around longer to see what the
problem is? if its a missing file, i could possibly place it on a
floppy and then install it again through dos (sound reasonable?)
but as it is i'm stuck with a useless laptop

any help appreciated

thanks

rich

I'm not sure what a bsod is, but you can try to hit the
Pause/Break key on your keyboard when it pops up, that
might pause it.

Some thoughts: see comments inline.

You mean the CD died prior to this problem, or just that you can't boot
from it?
If it's the second, you can create a set of 4 bootable floppies from the
win2k disk by running

d:\bootdisk\makeboot.exe (where d is the CDROM drive letter)
and

Ironicly, if you could get your computer to boot you could go into system
proberties->advancod-> startup and recovery ->automaticly reboot

but you way be able to view your event logs from the recovery console. Im
a bit uncertian about how to proceed with that, but perhaps someone will
be so kind as to inform us how.

reasonable IF your hard drive is FAT and not NTFS.
