Why is drive A chattering

When ever I select a file in Explorer, drive A starts to chatter.
Can someone tll me how to stop that.

Yeah, about to mention that KB article was for Windows 95-98-98SE.

At the same registry key mentioned, the value that I have is hexidecimal 91
(0x00000091), or decimal 145. I don't have chatter on drive A: when I open
Explorer.

If you look under Explorer's File menu, does its recent file list show a
file on the A: drive?

Maybe anti-virus software scanning floppies?
