Why can't I archive email dated 2004 and earlier?

Why can't I archive email dated 2004 and earlier, using MS Outlook 2003,
Professional Edition with SP2? I can archive email 2005 and newer, but not
earlier than that. The setting is correct for this (example, all subfolders,
"earlier than", and so on). Answer appreciated! - Val

Hi Ben,

Thank you for replying.

I'm not sure what you mean by modified date versus received date, but no, I
did not move these messages to a different folder recently. Is it possible
that I may have accidently moved an Archive folder to the Inbox at one point?
Would that cause a folder to be "unarchivable"?

Hi Roady,

What happens is this: I can see it attempting to archive, but nothing is
being transferred and I know nothing has happened by whether the pst file
size has changed or not. The mail continues to sit in the Inbox. It should
disappear were it archiving with the settings I have. Mind you, I have been
able to archive many of my folders already, but there is some email that
won't archive at all.

How would I check a pst file for errors? The pst files look normal enough. I
am getting no application errors on my event log.

I will check out your link and report back if I can discover anything new. I
intend to fix this. :)

You can check your pst-file for errors with scanpst.exe. By default yo can
find it here;
C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\<Locale ID>

Roady,

The good news is the pst scan worked and showed no errors on the archive.pst
file. The bad news is it didn't fix the problem. I've gone through my archive
settings, and have done it manually as well. It's probably not an eccentric
error, but I'm still exploring this. If I ever find out what fixes it, I'll
let you know. Any other ideas?
