I paid for the Windows XP Home Edition Upgrade. Ever
since I installed it, including SP-1 and SP-2, there are
three (malicious) files that will not come off my
computer. They are WToolsS.exe, WToolsA.exe, and
WSup.exe. I have used the task manager to shut down the
programs since they are consuming memory and CPU threads.
Every time I attempt to "end process" it ends, then starts
right back up again. I noticed a file folder on my hard
drive with the path c:/program files/common files/Wintools
that has several programs that I did not install (spyware,
malware). Any attempt to rename the file or delete it
results in an error saying the program is in use by
another person/program. How can this occur if I ended the
program with the task manager? My question is: how do I
permanently delete this file folder and keep this
application from running on my system? About once a week
a message will come up asking me if I want to install a
Windows Search Toolbar 2.0; there are only two options
that say "Install now" and "Remind me later." There is
not a much needed "do not remind me again and delete"
option. This kind of hidden downloading should be
illegal. I cannot even get a manufacturer's name so I can
report the problem to their website. Duly noted about
Xoftspy's program to delete such malicious exe files,
spyware, malbots, home page hijackers and unwanted search
toolbars that only rob the computer of its limited
resources. I feel that I should not have to pay to have
such programs removed when I did not know they were being
installed. I have since ensured that my firewall is
active, but I still cannot get these WToolsA and WToolsS
programs to stay off my computer; they keep coming back.
Whoever designed this sort of unauthorized program should
be prosecuted to the extent of federal law. Any help in
deleting these files and locating their source would be
appreciated.
