My brother, who had no virus protection or firewall was
infected with several viruses. I was able to eliminate
all of them usin McAfee except one which showed as
follows: C: NYB As you can see there is
no subdirectory. When I checked this out on McAfee it
said we need a boot disc and a scan disc. Is ther any
easy way to get rid of this? Say for example can I use
the restor CD that came with the computer and say even
reformat and restore it to origonal state? Or is there
another way?

There are anti virus News Groups specifically for this type of discussion.

microsoft.public.scripting.virus.discussion
microsoft.public.security.virus
alt.comp.virus
alt.comp.anti-virus

Go to Invircible and download Zvi Netiv's IVINIT utility --
http://www.invircible.com/iv_tools.php#Ivinit

NYB is an *OLD* Boot Sector infector.

Stinger will NOT remove *any* Boot Sector Infectors.

Stinger targets ~43 infectors, mostly worms and a couple of Trojans. If you bothered to
READ the URL contents you've posted you would have seen the ~43 infectors that Stinger
specifically covers.

It is for THIS type of response that I posted the following News Groups for this type of
discussion!

microsoft.public.scripting.virus.discussion
microsoft.public.security.virus
alt.comp.virus
alt.comp.anti-virus

wrong!!!!
