Hello,

Whenever I restart or shutdown my
computer, I experience a long lag when it
says "Shutting down" or something (after my
settings have been saved..

I have the same effect when I start the
game NHL 2006. It takes ~2 minutes
before the game starts... At first I was
rebooting the computer because I thought
the computer was frozen for real..

-I'm using XP Pro retail w/ SP2
-I have a AMD X2 3800+ on a GIGABYTE
GA-K8NF-9

All latest drivers installed, with processor driver
from AMD.

Plus, I don't experience this on x64 (Dual boot)
with same software..

Thank you !

You don't have the "same software" on your 64-bit OS; you have a
completely separate operating system installation. That does help in
narrowing the cause down to software and not hardware, though.

First, make sure the system is completely virus/malware-free:

If you know the system is clean, then do clean-boot troubleshooting:
