Just Me

I have a machine that has as users Cal and Ann.

However, if I look under the folder "Document Settings" I see

All Users
All Users.WINDOWS
Administrator
Administrator.DESKTOP
Cal

Nothing for Ann!!

If I add a link in "All Users.Desktop" it does not show up on the desktop.

However, an application has added one to "All Users.WINDOWS.Desktop" and
that link does show.

1) Anyone know what is going on here???

2) Is there a file someplace that associates users with their directories?
I'm wondering if Ann and Cal share the same directory (Cal)

Thanks for any help!

This is usually caused by doing a reinstall, without repairing the existing install. The old Documents and Settings folders get left behind.

See Help and Support and search for "take ownership"

I take it you are logged on to the Cal account? The system will hide
other users from you if you are not an Administrator. Try logging on as
Administrator - if this is XP Home you will have to boot to Safe Mode
after hitting F8 when BIOS info first goes to black, and it will be on
the Welcome.

You should from that ensure you have a User account with Admin status
for regular day to day administration

Using XP Professional

Ann and Cal have Administrator privileges.

Actually I was logged in as Ann. I just logged in as Cal and it created a
directory Cal_2. I'll bet Ann owns the directory Cal and there was none for
the username Cal so it created Cal_2.

Wonder if I delete the directories Cal and Cal_2 and the log in as Ann if it
won't create Ann? Then login as Cal to get the directory Cal.

I haven't yet followed the other suggestion to see who owns Cal but I'll
bet it's Ann.

Isn't there any non-graphic way to get a listing of users and their
properties?

I forgot how to log in as Administrator, I know I have to press something at
the login screen - is it Ctrl-Alt-Del?

What about the directories All Users.WINDOWS and Administrator.DESKTOP.
Think I can delete them? I don't see such directories on another machine
with the same OS.

Thanks a lot,
