Simply log in using the built-in Administrator account (which
cannot be deleted) and modify the desired account(s). By design, the
only way to log into the Administrator account of WinXP Home is to
reboot into Safe Mode. For WinXP Pro, pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL twice at
the Welcome Screen will produce the standard login dialog box.

Windows XP Home or Professional?

Have you tried (if Windows XP Home) - booting into Safe Mode, trying to log
on as the "administrator". Almot all computers (XP) have more than one
user - the Administrator user is properly hidden from the user. However,
the other drawback is that many "administrator" users have BLANK passwords -
so if you didn't install your PC, try "blank" as the administrator password
(administrator is the name you would type in for username.)

Or if Windows XP Professional - pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL twice (if you logon
using the "Welcome" screen) and using the username "administrator" and a
blank password?

Once logged in as an administrative user, you can change any of the other
users passwords (Start -> Run and type in "control userpasswords2" and the
rest should be obvious.)

Last resorts:

Hack your password:
