Well, I must be honest that I am not sure what I was supposed to get from a 2nd reading, but I looked again, followed some links, and still didn't see a direct answer, and certainly no access to a software fix without risking a significant charge
I did, however, let my dual-boot Linux try, and although I know too little about Linux right now to do anything with it, it did recognize my camera brand and model plugged into the USB port on the 1st startup
I went a step further, an went through the WinUpd to get every W2K-specific hotfix available, which made no diff. In case my SP4 file was bad, I D/L that again, and re-installed it
What could I be overlooking here

Now I ran into the same kind of situation, and tracked an answer of sort
to KB822368, but the web page describing didn't offer any kind of patch t
fix the problem it described. I was very disappointed, because the step
provided under
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=819332 were steps I ha
tried several times, and I never could get rid of the (!) on my USB device
Any ideas
I have W2K, SP4, non-ACPI installation, which worked fine with my camera weeks ago, and now doesn't because of this
