upgrading internal drive

Is it possible to transfer settings, files and apps from my current XP Pro
internal harddrive onto a network drive (mac or pc via wireless network) stay
with me... then pull the internal drive, replacing it with a larger capacity
drive, on which XP Pro is already installed and import my previous
settings, files and apps?

As I understand it, the "file and settings transfer wizard" should be able
to accomplish such a task. I've had no luck, only an error message when
wizard attempts to import the file it exported to the network drive... not a
usable file or something. Ugh.

There's no FLOPPY drive on the machine, nor do I have original microsoft xp
pro install disks, only the Dell CD labeled "Operating System reinstallation
CD".

why don't you just clone your existing drive to the one you want to
replace it with?

And if the o/s has been installed on another sys, prior to installing this
hd, it wont work either without a repair install
