I am trying to update my system from Windows ME to XP. I receive the
following message part way through the installation.

stop: C0000221 Bad image checksum. The image rpcrt4.dll is possibly
corrupt. The header checksum does not match the computer checksum.

Any help you can give me would be appreciated.

When you attempted to install XP, how did you do it? Did you begin setup
from the ME desktop, did you boot from the XP CD or did you try using a
Windows 9x boot floppy? Before you attempted to install, did you first run
the XP Compatibility Wizard on the XP CD. Place the XP CD in the drive
while at the ME desktop, when the setup screen appears, select "Check System
Compatibility," that runs the wizard which may find issues with regard to
hardware or software that my cause setup to halt.
