I have downloaded the current BIOS Flash files.
The instruction says to create a Boot Disk. When I try
creating a Boot Dick I am unable to get to the C: prompt.
Here are the instructions:

3. Download the BIOS that matches your motherboard AND
version number (some motherboards are named like K7T
Turbo, make sure you have the right version number).
4. Extract the BIOS-archive that you have downloaded by
double clicking to c:\test
5. Boot your system from a Win98 or WinME boot-floppy.
How to make boot floppy in case your don't have it ready:
For Win9X, You can type [C:\ format a:/s] from the DOS
prompt.
For WinMe, You can make a boot floppy from control panel--
add/remove program-->make boot floppy. Remove
autoexec.bat & config.sys file if there's any.
For Win2000, there's no way to make boot floppy, so you
have to either use Win9X or WinME boot floppy.
For WinXP, you can make a DOS boot disk. Go to Your
Computer, right click drive A:, select Format, select copy
system files.
6. When you get the A:\ prompt, type the following
sequence:
C: <enter>
cd\test <enter>
C:\test> amifl827 a6380vms.330 <enter>
(a6380vms.330 refers to BIOS file, this will depend on the
board model)
(to save or not to save old BIOS is the user's decision)
7. Reboot your system when prompted
Thank you.

Just to clarify.......... you don't open a dos prompt window, you use the
dos boot disk to boot and get to the a:\ prompt, then you do step 6 and on.
Don't try to flash the bios in a command prompt window.
You can also get a win9x boot disk here: www.bootdisk.com

I am running XP. The only other option is Boot disk. I do
not have MS-DOS option.

Hi, Brian.

Understand that flashing a BIOS is a hardware issue that has nothing to do
with Windows or even with Microsoft, except for the very basic-level use of
MS-DOS to run the flash utility.

WinXP will create the boot disk for you but will not otherwise be involved.
You will reboot to MS-DOS - NOT Windows - and run the flash utility from
there. You should see an A: prompt, not a C: prompt, because the hard drive
(and Windows) will not be involved at all.

To create the boot disk, boot WinXP. Put a blank diskette in the floppy
drive. Click My Computer and RIGHT-click on the A: drive. From the context
menu that pops up, choose Format... Check the bottom box, "Create an MS-DOS
startup disk", and click Start. When it finishes, you should have a
bootable floppy.

Reboot, after making sure your computer is set to boot from floppy. Your
computer should boot into MS-DOS and present the A: prompt. CAREFULLY
follow AMI's instructions from that point - steps 6 and 7 in your post.
