When I turn on my computer, I see a strange graphic. I put a nice autumn
scene as my background and have gone into propeties to try several times to
change it to the autumn scene again. There seems to be no way to get rid of
the strange icon (a large oval on top of a smaller oval - blue black and
yellow squares with black larg t's in the middle of the top one). Does
anyone know what this horrible desktop image is and how to get rid of it? I
have tried several times to go into appearance and desktop and tried to re
put the autumn scene on but it won't go away. thanks for any help - Kim

You don't say if you have searched for spyware. If not, go here to
read about Ad-Aware:-

http://www.lavasoft.de/

Download it free here:-

http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910.html

Download Ad-Aware and run it to get rid of spyware from your system.

Also get "Spybot Search & Destroy" from:-

http://www.safer-networking.org/

Download link on left of that page.

Use both programs regularly.

Make sure you update both of them regularly.

This may or may not be the problem but worth a try.

Kim, spy ware software will not remove this. I was hit with it
awhile back. Folks, adaware and other software will not remove
the latest batch of spyware out there.

I was able to get my desktop back to normal by doing a system restore.
I chose a restore point prior to the crap showing up on my desktop.

Here's how:
Start - select Control Panel

Control Panel you need to be in "Category View" You'll know cause
it will say "Pick a Category", if it just shows you a bunch of icons, then
select "Switch to Category View" option in the left side column.

In Control Panel in the Cat View, select "Performance and Maintenance"

In the left side column you'll see "Sytem Restore", select it

A window will open make sure "Restore my computer to an earlier time" is
selected,
then hit "next"

Now you'll see a calendar, pick a date before the computer went bad and hit
"next"

Now you'll get a window saying make sure all programs are closed etc., hit
"next"
and XP will restore the computer back to the day you chose. Close all
programs before
running it like it says to.

Good luck Kim.
