unwanted Numbering in style

I created a template, for report production. While using STYLE for different
heading level, in the document based on that template there are 5 levels of
heading, named Title 1 through 5, when a document is created using the
template and saved, things are fine.

But when the document is re-opened, the Title-2 level assigns itself an
“outline numberâ€, which even when you go and modify the style, keeps coming
back when the document is re-opened.
Where can I see the “seems to be automatic†numbering that keeps
re-appearing each time the document is open?

I am not a novice in word, nor am I a Wiz, somewhere in the middle.
Thanks, and do not hesitate to contact me!!!!

(Language) version of Word? Are you using the built-in styles or
defining your own?

Check Tools | Templates and Add-ins. Anything checked in there? What?

Where can I see the “seems to be automatic†numbering that keeps

I'd start with the "Reveal Formatting" Task Pane.
