Home and Pro are essentually the same program, except pro has a few more
whistles. Why do you think you need to roll back?

Hi,

To answer your question: You need to format and install XP Home cleanly,
there is no uninstall option for that upgrade.

There are no programs that will run on Home that will not run on Pro. You have a different problem, perhaps something went wrong during the install, but no way to tell what it is from the information provided.

There is no rollback, you will have to do a format and install everything new. All data on the drive will be lost. But, a clean install of Pro will be the same as a clean install of Home at this point, if you have a problem that can be fixed by a clean install then it will be fixed either way. If you want to save your data and existing installed programs, you might want to post back with more details about what problems you are seeing trying to run programs and see if they can be solved.

Then the installation of Pro was wrong. If you have a complete Pro, do a
clean install. If you only have Home, do a clean install. Upgrade installs
are prone to going awry due to the programs already on the computer.

Hi,

You will have to format at least the installation partition, as setup will
"see" the existing installation and shutdown as it is recognized as a newer
version. To do this, run setup by booting the CD and deleting the existing
system partition, then create a new one from the free space, format and
proceed with the install.

You have not yet told us why you wish to do this, as Pro and Home are the
same basic core engine, there should be no differences except increase
system securty functions under the Pro system.

First, to a complete virus scan, run spybot or ad-aware.
Secondly, check the state of all system files: run sfc /scannow from a
command prompt. This will review all system files for corruption, etc.
Have your install CD handy unless the folder i386 exists on the HD.
Alternatively, do a repair install of pro.
Thirdly, deinstall problem applications (using the applications own
deinstaller, if possible), reboot, and reinstall.

If you continue to have application problems, review Event Viewer logs
and focus on the reported errors.

Did you remember to do ALL the MS Windows Updates, after upgrading to XP
Pro?

The only way to change from WinXP Pro to WinXP Home is to
format the drive and start over. There is no supported downgrade path
or technique.

Simply boot from the WinXP Home installation CD. You'll be
offered the opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as
part of the installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the
order of boot devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)

Why? XP Home is a subset of XP Professional. There's nothing in
Home that's not also in Professional. You may not use the extra
features of Professional, but their being there doesn't hurt you
in any way.

Can someone please tell me how I can do this.

You can't. There's no way to do a downgrade. The only way to get
Home back is to reformat and reinstall it from scratch.

The only way is to backup everything; reformat the disk as pat of a new
clean install of the Home edition
