undeletable virus?

I installed "Freedom Internet Security & Privacy Firewall" produced by
"ZeroKnowledge, version 4.2.2.6767" and it has scanned for viruses (virii?)
and reported two viruses resident in "C:\Windows\System32\svchost.exe",
which according to the "pop-up", are undeletable from this file or the
system altogether, although I tried to delete as recommended.

It identifies one virus as "Nachi.B", and the other has no name, but is
referred as a "back door" worm.

Would I have to uninstall WindowsXP Home Edition and re-install it, in order
to overcome this problem?

The WindowsXP Firewall indicates upon scanning, that there are no known
viruses existent on my system, however this annoying "pop-up" keeps
appearing on my screen at random intervals.

Thanks
Dave A.

In the above thread, an app called Stinger is referred to.
It works well in Safe Mode from a floppy. Use it to clean
the pc and then obtain the patch updates from a cd without
opening up your internet vulnerability.
