unable to access recovery console in xp home edition

Hi,

I am trying to access recovery console in xp home
edition. I am typing the correct password when prompted
for "Administrator" password. I am able to log in
in "safe mode" and change "administrator" password. It
even allows me to log in with the new password but this
password does work with the recovery console.

Any suggestion/solution.

This may seem like you are going to reformat but don't worry you really are
not,
I had to do this once and it worked just fine.
