Two instance of outlook...possible?

Hello,
I'm connected to my email through a microsoft exchange server. I've got two
profiles set up on my computer; one which is for my personal and the other
which is for my work. I know that I can switch between both by simply
exiting outlook and opening it again and choosing the other profile. My
question is:

Is it possible to have two seperate instance of outlook open at the same
time? The reason for this is because if I choose one profile, say my
personal, and need to send an email from my work address, I need to exit and
re-open to choose to other profile.

Any suggestions on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Shawn.

if you use windows xp and have fast user switching enabled, you can run one
on each windows account. Otherwise, no.

Thank you Diane; I didn't think that it was possible but I was hoping to
maybe my life a little easier. Have a great weekend.

It is possible to run two instances of Outlook 2003 beside each other if
your email is set up for "Internet Only".

As I write this, I currently have two instances of Outlook 2003 open.
Whether you can use two different profiles in each instance, I don't know,
since I don't have two profiles.

You can have two (or more) outlook windows open - but only one profile open
at a time.

By "Outlook windows" do you mean "instances of Outlook"?

Define an "instance".

You can click on Outlook shortcuts all day long - but it only opens new
windows - the same as right clicking on any folder and choosing 'open in
new windows' does. It does not open a second outlook.exe in the task manager
(processes tab) but you will see multiple outlook buttons on the windows
toolbar.

You should never have more than one outlook.exe running in processes. That
means something is wrong - usually caused by a program accessing outlook's
data before you open outlook, such as would happen if you cradle a pda
before opening outlook.

Thank you, Ms. Poremsky. That really clarified the matter for me. I had
thought that by clicking on the Outlook shortcut twice, it opened a second
Outlook.exe. I looked in the Task Manager, and sure enough, there is only
one Outlook.exe running.

I have 2 computers in different offices at work till about a week ago I was
able to open 2 instances of outlook in both and I did see 2 open in the task
manager. I have just replaced one of my computers and now I can not open 2
instances in that computer. Both machines are running win xp and the software
is the same and I am searching for the right setting to set it up again.

Diane,
I have multiple outlook's open in the window task manager at one time. As
many as 5. I have created a new outlook profile, run scanpst, defraged, and
most every other maintenance item. I get "microsoft outlook has encountered a
problem and must shut down". sorry to my outlook folders synchronizing all
the time....I need help, How do I 1. shut off synchronizing 2. eliminate
microsoft from shutting down my outlook......it is a real problem for lots
of us and from the postings no one has corrected the problem...any ideas
would be great.
Thanks,

Hi all,

I m new in this discussion group.

We are using MS Exchange Server
We have customized task form according to out requirement.
MessageClasse= IPM.TASK
we are storing EntryId and StroedID as well.
In this form we have a customized field 'HistoryText'.
We have another customized Message form for Correspondance.
whenever we send or reply any email using our customized Message form the
text of this mail logged in customized task form field 'HistoryText'.
we are using vb script.
Now we facing an issue reported by few of our users that they are having
multiple instances of customized task form (we called this a Ticket Form)
Is it possible to prevent outlook from showing multiple instances of same
form?

My job provides outlook, and I have been using it for years. Recently I
upgraded my work desktop and I am no longer able to get additional Outlook
windows when I click on the shortcut on my task bar. I was able to do this
last week and for several years before. Is there a setting to allow or
disallow this?

Thanks
