My computer is going SUPER s-l-o-w. I don't mean like
click, wait a sec, go. I mean that it takes a program over
a minute to start! My menus take FOREVER, each click takes
a good 20 seconds to understand, my letters come up slow,
etc.... (Man was it hard just to get to this website, and
I have a cable connection!)I'm starting to see that the
rest of my family (with much older, less ram, less space,
etc computers) have about the same, yet many times FASTER
speeds than I do. What can I Do? My hardrive isn't even
Near full yet! Please Help!

I just finished reading a news article that stated that a
majority of show-computer problems are being caused by
spyware, adware, sneakware, malware - call it what you
may. The recommendation is that you make sure that you
keep your computer up-to-date with all critical patches
to the OS and IE, that you keep your anti-virus software
fully updated at all times and that you not lower the
security settings of IE. A firewall is another defense
as is caution in what you voluntarily download as "free"
software, which often comes bundled with malware. To
clean up infected machines, they recommend Spybot -
Search and Destroy, AdAware and PestPatrol. There are
others available, also.

If you're running a Dell machine, it is my understanding
that possibly they have some provision for scanning
machines with PestPatrol.
