Too much "not responding"

Quite often, enought to be a nuisance, whenever I
select "refresh", a link from a weg page, or close a page,
the pointer does it's "working" thing but nothing
happens. Selecting Task Manager indicates that the page
I'm refreshing or action requested is "not responding." I
can end task through Task Manager and start over again.
Second or third time it works ok then may do it again
later with another site/link. Whaz up? How do I get out
of this? XP Home SP 1 IE6. I have posted this twice
in the last month with no help. Is there someone out
there who can help me? Thanks, Phil

If I were you, I'd defrag my hard drive and make sure there is a good amount
of free space available for swap space. Then I'd make sure I didn't have
any viruses or spyware by running anti-virus software and spyware software
like adaware. Then I would probably reinstall internet explorer from the
microsoft site to correct potential problems there.

If that doesn't work, I'd do a clean install. Usually I end up doing one of
those every year or so.

Run the cleaners mentioned here, all of them. Then repost with which
programs that are not responding.
