I sure hope someone can help me. I did a BIG mistake and installed the new
version of Morpheus and then instantly uninstalled it, cuz it's such a mess.
Well, NOW...my computer is hanging anywhere to 10 to 20 seconds when I surf
the web and my husband and I are members of this one website that we can
still access, but are unable to access our message center there. It says it
just cannot find the page. I contacted this website and talked with them and
I now know it's not their website, but my computer. I have scanned for
viruses, scanned for spyware with three different kinds of spyware apps and
still it does the same thing. I tried system restore and it won't do it.
Everything says my computer is clean and should run like normal, but it isn't
and it's driving me CRAZY! And this all started with the new version of
Morpheus. If ANYONE has any idea what this could be or has had something
similar happen to them, I would appreciate it SO VERY MUCH if you would
contact me at my email addy or through here. THANK YOU!!!!

Hi

Have you tried a System Restore via Safe Mode? The Morpheus uninstaller in
Add/Remove Programs doesn't delete any shared folders or the downloaded
folder - perhaps they are causing the problem?

I will go exploring and see what I can find....hopefully that will help.
Thank you SO much for helping!!!!

Ugh....none of that worked.....It's almost like my settings are changed,
that's why I'm unable to access our message center in that site, but I've
looked and everything seems normal. OR maybe it deleted a file that I need to
access our message center??? I've been working on this for a week now without
any success. I just don't know what to do anymore. But I do thank you for
your help, that was very kind of you!

Ya know, I was thinking the same thing, that I was going to have to
re-install....BUT....XP was installed on this computer when I bought it from
this dude...and even BETTER.....it was a pirated version, I didn't get ANY XP
disc....so I am....S. O. L....as they say.
But thank you for taking time out to reply....you're a doll.

Yes, I ran Ad-Aware and Spybot search & destroy along with SpySweeper. They
all found either cookies or ads and I deleted them all and still nothing.
I've been doing that everyday for a week now. It's just so weird.

Since you purchased the computer, have you obtained a legal copy of XP? If
you have a disc, even if it isn't the specific disc that was used to install
the OS, I believe you should still be able to perform repair functions and
whatnot. If you have no disc at all, you may want to consider taking it to
a computer repair shop, where they should have the necessary equipment to
perform repair installations and such. Just don't let them manipulate your
machine in any other way. Computer shops around here like to put software
on machines without the owner's request (and sometimes against the owner's
request) and then charge them for it; also, if they have to format, they
will destroy any data on the drive without notifying the owner... so, if you
choose to take your machine to a computer shop, try to find one with good
customer reviews. How's that for some paranoia =)

No, I do not have a disc of XP....sadly enough. So that isn't an option.
Taking it to some computer tech is looking like what I will end up doing if I
cannot figure this out. STUPID MORPHEUS! But I AM going to try cwshredder to
see if that works. At this point, I'm willing to try almost anything!
Thank you guys so much for trying to help me!!

You've mentioned that you've run a number of spy/adware detection programs -
have you performed a full system scan with a current anti-virus program with
up-to-date definitions? If you do not have an anti-virus program, you
should definitely download one - I highly recommend avast! anti-virus. AVG
is also pretty good, but I personally prefer avast!. Both AVG and avast!
are free; do a Google search for them as I'm not sure what the sites are and
too lazy currently to find out (no coffee yet... *shudder*).

Also, on an unrelated note - please, please either put a fake email address
or don't put an email... I understand it's a bit late as quite a few posts
have been made, but your address can be stolen from the newsgroups by
automated email-harvesting programs. Be on the alert for spam or viruses
coming to your mailbox.

Tony....Yes, I've run my anti virus program everyday for a week now, JUST to
make sure and I am virus free. Also....thanks for email tip...I had NO
idea...so I will do as you say. Thanks so much for your help....you're a
sweetheart!

Thanks for that link, Ron....I just read it and am now going to try and do
this...with my fingers crossed! Thank you sooooooo much for your help!
