Text area in Outlook minimizes

When I wish to reply, change or create a new mail or appointment the text
area minimizes the text to an allmost unreadable level (the font is still the
same)

How can I change the set-up (back to standard)?

Try holding down the control key and use the wheel on your mouse to enlarge.
It's possible you have zoomed out so far that everything is too small.
