Tansfering from 2000 to XP Pro

I am planning on transfering from an older computer to a new computer. I want
to use the new files and setting transfer wizard but need to find out how to
setup the users on the new computer. I have tried making the new user on the
new machine the same name as on the old both set to administrator then
running the wizard. This led to all the files being moved but not into the
new computers user account. What is the best way of transfering several
accounts to a new computer. I have cleaned off the xp and ready to try
again.
