Take owner ship of previous Owners Files

After a Registry crash I had to reinstall the windows
system and all the programs. SP1 will not install
properly and gain access to various file that used to be
owned by the last installation cannot be accessed. ow can
I get access when I am the adiministrator?

Either go to the root of the folder the files are located
or to the root of the drive (although this will take a
long time and will require many dialog boxes) go to
properties, security, click advanced. Go to the owner tab,
make sure your account is the one listed then check the
box to replace owner on subcontainers and objects. It may
take a while, and all files may not be recoverable,
especially if you used encryption, but the majority will
change ownership. You may also need to reset some registry
permissions, but one thing at a time.
