I recently reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled
Windows XP and am now experiencing an issue with all
System Tray icons, some of the Quick Launch icons as well
as some of the icons for the active programs displaying
in a very low resolution. They simply look "grainy".

Although not crucial for day-to-day function it is very
annoying. I have tried the usual customiztion areas to
try and fix this problem but I must be overlooking
something. In addition, I have spent considerable time
searching the web for an answer and have come up with
nothing. Please help.

I appreciate the help, I actually was able to fix it by
going into System Properties, Advanced, Performance,
Settings. It was set to "Adjust for best appearance"
(which is what I wanted) and I just clicked on "Adjust
for best performance" and applied and then just reset it
to "Adjust for best appearance" and everyting was back to
right. Who knows, but maybe you could add this to your
tips and tricks.
