System Restore "Restoration Incomplete"

P

Phil C.

Hi,

I've tried to run system restore to return to either an earlier daily
checkpoint or an earlier day when software was
indicated installed. In either case, the computer reboots to "Restoration
Incomplete". I've tried running system
restore from safe mode, but same result. I have no "shutdown problems"
noted in the KB article.
There is adequate diskspace for all the drives system restore is monitoring.
I'm booting off a serial ata drive using a silicon image sil 3112 chipset.
HELP!!

Unrestored in Boston

YES...I am familiar with your problem...I have it as well and suspect it to be a serial drive issue. I'm running two Raptors in RAID strip 0 I have not confirmed this yet but bet thats where the problem lies. Don't know what to do about yet. Try going to your HD makers support forum maybe they have documented this problem. Hopefully some kind soul will help us here.

Nothing to do with serial drives - restore points do occasionally become
corrupt. The only way to fix is to purge (by turning SR off, rebooting, and
then back on again). You can then create an uncorrupt point.

No other way round it.
