I have three questions.
1. Are the swap file and the page file the same file?
2. Is win386.swp either one?
3. If not, what are the names of these files?

1. Yes
2. No
3. The page or swap file would normally reside on your os partition
unless you have placed it else where.
The pagefile will be called pagefile.sys .

If you are using a dual boot NO swap and page are not the same. PageFile
is the name associated with Win2K, and WinXP. Win386.swp is associated with
Win9x and is indeed called Swap File. They do serve the same
function.basically.

The "page file' is the name used in Windows XP (as well as NT and
2000) for what Windows 95, 98, and Me call the "swap file."

Windows XP's page file is called pagefile.sys. Win386.swp was the
name for the swap file in Windows 95, 98, and Me.

3. If not, what are the names of these files?

See above.
