Hello,
I live in Mexico and am connected thru Mexican Prodigy. For about a week I
have been get dead pages mainly at night! I called the Prodigy help desk and
the person checked my computer settings and also looked under TASK MANAGER.
He said I should only have one svchost.exe. He said I have a virus on this
computer. He recommend I run my virus program and nothing came up! I looked
under search and only found one svchost.exe BUT UNDER tast manager there is
SIX of these.

What should I do and how????

Call them back and tell them to get off their fat asses and start helping or
else you'll switch to AOL.
My task manager shows more than one instance of this running and I connect
perfectly.

same here, that process (or those processes) are key parts of different
windows features. they are required. just watch what stops working right when
you turn any of them off.

svchost should be running out of system32.You can use Process Explorer
to view all processes.I have a link to it on my site(see my sig below).I
have 5 occurrences of svchost running right now.Are all pages"dead"or
just some? Maybe you should look for a new ISP(Mexican Prodigy help was
not helpful)

Yes , when this happend all pages were dead! BUT , I called back today and
told the fellow that his advise was not correct and he took me thru these
steps!

Start
Run
type "command"
command promt window type " netsh interface ip reset log.txt"
Let this reset
the exit
If the window pops up "can not close this widow" he said close it manully.
Restart your computer!

So far it has help! I will write back if it does come to blank pages again!

Also does any one know how many programs should be running when all is close
and not connected to the Internet! I have about 53 and I have look thru the
list and can not find any that I could shut down or delete! This slows my
computer down! Please help again if you have some advise!
Thanks Patrick
