Sun JRE ignored by IE 6

In Internet Options>Advanced I checked Java (Sun) and
restarted, but my application opens with a message that
the JRE is not installed. I've uninstalled and reinstalled
the latest JRE, but get the same results. HELP!

Have you gone to Control Panel | Java Plug-in | Browser tab | and checked
Microsoft Internet Explorer | Apply? If so, I'm all out of ideas.
