strange sound

This may be a really odd question. A few weeks ago my IE
6.0 started to make a strange horn like sound when I open
a new webpage. It only happens about with about half the
webpages. It's really an obnoxious sound. I've turned
off the play sound in webpage option using tools/internet
options. That does not stop the strange sound. It only
occurs when I surf the web and only with about half the
pages. I've gone into windows control panel and unchecked
all sounds. That didn't work. Then only thing I can do
is turn the volume all the way down. There's got to be a
better solution than that. Can anyone please tell me how
to stop this very annoying sound.

Did you install a popup blocker just before that started?
How about a new firewall or anti-virus?
