I have an older computer (K6 processor, 32 meg RAM, 1.08
GB HD--let's call it Computer 1) that uses Win95. I had
another computer, also K6, that I tried to upgrade to
WinXP, and so I bought a home edition, with explicit
instructions for upgrade. Unfortunately, the hard disk
was bad and the installation bombed, so I bought a new HP
preloaded with WinXP. I want to set up a network in the
house, so I tried to run the upgrade on Computer 1 to no
avail. The book says you can do a full new installation,
overwriting everything on the hard drive, which is okay.
But the instruction guide doesn't say how. What am I
doing wrong, someone? Please e-mail me a response.

They say," a full installation of xp" but youre not working with that,
you have the "upgrade version of xp" .It probably will work, but some
OEMs set part of the hd for reinstalling,w/o it unless you have thier
cds and all,you wont have a previous system to fall back on if xp fails.
But to install the upgrade, boot to xp cd,select install xp at the info page,
new copy, delete partition, create one, then xp formats and installs auto.
