I have a folder called "pop" in program files. It has
altered the IE6 menu bar. I cannot find it in regedit and
it doesnt appear in "startup" in ms config. When i try to
delete folder it tells me that "pop205.dll" is running so
cant delete. I have spybot and pest patrol but they dont
find it. I have used a "repair toolbars" fix from kellys
corner but it is still there. I dont suppose it does any
harm but i just want to delete it from the system. How do
I stop the dll running and then delete folder.

Many thanks
Bernie

Not really the best fix, but as you have tried everything else, why not find
pop205.dll and delete it.

You may need to do this in safe mode however.

Then you should be able to delete the folder after rebooting. You may also
get some other messages poping up from the program that is trying to use
pop205.dll if you do report back to see if it is safe to delete that program
also.

The other solution you could use if it is not going to cause too much of a
problem is to do a restore to a point before this pop was added to your
system.

Have your tired adaware? You can get it at http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/#free

Now if you really want to delete the pop folder:
(Please note that I'm going out on a limb here. The advise I'm about to give is to considered
'as-is'. Use it at your own risk!) If you are going to try this

Go to control panel>folder options. Open the 'view tab'. *uncheck* Hide extensions for known file
types. *check* Show hidden files and folders. Click ok and exit.

Now go to the pop folder. Find the pop205.dll file. Right click on it and rename it to pop205.old.
Now restart your computer, and you should be able to delete the folder.

www.spywareinfo.com has a program called "hijack this"
when you run a scan with it it will list everything
running on your computer copy this list and send it to
them these people are very knowledgeable when it comes to
spyware and can tell you what it is and how to remove it
their weekly newsletter is worth getting also.
