My computer (XP Home edition) gets to the "Windows is
starting up" page and then freezes up. Is there some way
to start it in Safe Mode as in Windows 98?
 
Press F8 as it starts. Just like 95 (and it worked on 98 machines as well though 98 didn't wait 2 seconds for you to press the key so it also bought up the menu while holding down control).
