Hi Carey

Thanks for the quick replies. Unfortunately, that article does not help me solve the problem

For example, when I started the computer now after it has been off for a few hours, I got the error message. I immediately shut down and restarted and there was no error

I have tried installing XP before and had this same problem. AFter a while I just ignored it and kept on using the machine. Within a week it became more and more erratic and finally unusable, so I decided to try another clean install

Should I enable boot logging? Perhaps if I looked at this file whenever I get the error it might help me track down the problem

I hope this give you more useful information. If you like, I can install and run Belarc Advisor to give you a picture of the machine

Cheers - Jim

Is there anything in the event log?

I have the same problem. Looking on Google there seems to be a lin
between:

Event 10005

DCOM got error "The service database is locked. " attempting to star
the service netman with arguments "" in order to run the server:
{BA126AE5-2166-11D1-B1D0-00805FC1270E}

and

Audigy 2.

But I can't find an answer which works for me.
