Hi,

We just got new computers at work 2 weeks ago with Windows XP Pro SP1 on the
machines then updated them to SP2 with no problems.

A few days later I started having a problem with Windows, it goes past the
boot screen then I get a blackscreen with white writing giving me an apology
and
numerous options to start Windows. There was Start in Safe Mode,
Start in Safe Mode with Command prompt, Start in Safe Mode with
networking, Start in last known good configuration, and finally start
Windows normally.
When I select any of them windows does load up. However, it stalls out after
I put my network password in. It will display my desktop picture only, and
stay that way for about 1 minute or more. It will then load up the rest of
the desktop and function properly until I shut it down for the day or
whatever. Everytime I reboot this happens.

We have not installed any new hardware. Any software that was installed was
installed on all of the computers. They all work fine.

Sounds almost like the MBR is buggered.

If it gets to that point it is NOT the MBR (would result in No OS found)
or the Fixboot or indeed the other initial boot mechanisms.
