spontaneous shut downs

Would anyone have a fix for my pc running on xp home
edition. It will spontaneously shut down and re start.
Please help...very frustrating.

It might be shutting down with an error, but you can't see it if the
screen display is too short. Go to Event Viewer, review the logs for
errors. You can change the shutdown on error restart, allowing you to
see the blue screen error: Device Manager, Advanced tab, Startup and
Recovery Settings button, uncheck Automatically restart.
