SP2 Question

Service Pack 2 downloaded and installed yesterday. I like how everything is
working so far except for the Security Center that keeps popping up on
startup. I have ZoneAlarm Pro 4.0 and don't need the Windows Firewall or
anything like that popping up constantly. Is there any way to get this to
stop popping up on startup? Also, I heard that ZoneAlarm 5.1, or whatever
the newest version is, doesn't work that well with SP2. Is this true? I
want to updated it, but I've had problems with versions past 4.0 and I don't
want any further problems. Thanks in advance.

There is an option in Control Panel - Windows Firewall, that says something
like "I have my own firewall that I will take care of." Ensure this is
checked, and you should not be hassled again. You can then either have both
firewalls running, or switch off the XP one. I run Norton Internet Security
2003, and have both that and XP's own firewall running, with no issues.

Not sure about the latest version of ZA. Someone else may be able to answer
that.

Lose ZA and keep the new SP2 firewall.

Control panel, security center, change the way security center alerts me,
set as you like.
Also in security center, click on recommendations under the firewall area
and click the box that says you have a firewall that you'll monitor
yourself.

BTW - Zone Alarm 5.1 works fine for me on sp2. In fact it's the only version
that the security center can monitor.

No problem with the latest free ZA here, Zone Labs Client
Version 5.1.011.000
Zone Labs Inc. - Internet Access Monitor Version 5.1.011.000
Zone Labs Inc. - TrueVector Service Version 5.1.011.000
Zone Labs Uninstaller Version 5.1.11.0

Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 (build 2600)

why not use a real firewall instead of a half baked
firewall like xp's . you know how microfloppy is for security.

I'll try that, Thanks.

I've been told that Microsoft's Firewall is not good and should not be used.
Granted that was months ago, but still.

The last time I tried to check that box, it was gone after a reboot. Not
sure why, but it's getting irritating.
