SP2 crashing/rebooting all the time...

It seems that ever since I installed SP2 via Automatic
Windows Updater, My computer has been
crashing/rebooting. Once XP comes back up, it asks me to
file an error report (which I've done nearly every single
time).

Is anyone else having similar problems?

My system:
HP Pavilion a650y (P4 3Ghz)
512MB Ram
GeForce FX 5500 (with the latest NVidia drivers)
XP Home edition

Not sure what other details I need to list here...all I
know is this is getting old fast (the crashing/rebooting
cycle, that is).

Also, it does not matter what program I am running. :(

Begin step # 1: Turn off "reboot on error" setting for Windows.

Go to My Computer, then select Properties. Select the "Advanced" TAB and
in the Startup and Recovery section click the "Settings" button.
At System Failure block,
"Un-check" the "Automatically restart" line. Apply change, make clean exit.

This will prevent a "reboot on error", and will also show (when you have Windows exception) the error code and its description.

IF a STOP error occurs, write down its number and complete description and follow up on fixes.

If Normal mode of Windows is still "re-booting" itself, reboot pc & tap the F8 Function key to select SAFE Mode, then do steps above.
