SP2: Cant find ieuinit.inf ; Can't find homepage.inf

While installing SP2, I got the following error messages:
The file C:\WINDOWS\System32\ieuinit.inf is not found on
the system. I also got a second error message right
after this one which read: The file: C\WINDOWS\System32
\hompage.inf is not found on the system.

After both of these error messages, the
message "Installation Failed" came up.

The computer seems to be working fine and the new
features of SP 2 seem to be working. I am looking for
feedback on whether either of these files are needed and
do I actually have SP2 correctly installed.

This problem occurred on a 1998 vintage IBM Aptiva which
started out on Windows 98. I installed SP2 on two newer
computers that I have, without any errors occuring. I
have regularly used Windows Update on all my machines
since installing XP.

Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

Both of these files *seem* to be remnants from IE5 if Google is reliable
so if your original XP install was an upgrade, that might be the source.
Does this error occur on booting, or only appeared during the SP2 update
install?

While doing the SP2 install a few days ago I got the ieuinit.inf missing
error message in the middle of the installation. After clicking OK the
install continued. At the finish, got the same error message again, clicked
OK, then got message that installation failed. Yet it appears not to have.
Checked my wife' s desktop, she does not have one either. Have not installed
SP2 on hers yet.
