hey guys,
I just received this product in the mail and after a long period of research found a driver for it (NYK4). I had a few questions so i am going to just ask away. For starters, does anyone know the site that supports this device? Is the nyk4 the best driver for this device? Does anyone know why sony does not support this device? In the future, do you guys think that there will be a crack or new driver that enables turbo mode all the time without having to hold the eject button for 5 seconds? Why was the turbo mode even invented? For some reason, the crx 320e does not operate as fast as it was advertised, even in turbo mode. Using nero in turbo mode, it can only write at 40x, when the advertised speed was 52x32x52x16. The DVD only reads at 8x max. Why cant i get my device to perform properly?
Any help to ANY of these questions would be GREATLY appreciated.

Turbo Mode? Never new that existed, i've got the CRX320E myself and i also can only burn at 40X, at first it didn't matter as 40X is fast as it is, but lately ive been having problems with it too, (https://www.pcreview.co.uk/showthread.php?p=32351#post32351).
As far as i can tell the NYK4 is for the CRX320E, ive used it. Also looking on the net it doesn't look like it is supported by sony for some odd reason.

Sorry i couldn't be of much help but i'm in the same boat,
Rom.

Ive been fiddling with that turbo mode you mentioned, when in nero first select the image recorder, then activate the turbo mode by holding the eject button, then select the CRX320E in nero and it will let you burn in 52X, not sure about the DVD yet, i'll get back to you. :thumb:

I also posted this in another thread:

XP works fine with the CRX320 drives. ANd no, SP2 does not hose the drive, either. Sony DOES support the drive at:

http://www.storagebysony.com
or
http://sony.storagesupport.com/

They list the newest firmware here as NYK5.
Also, there is a "turbo" 52x mode with the CRX320 drives. Yes, you need to hold in the eject button until it flashes to initiate turbo, and then it will reset itself back to 40x when you physically eject the disc. This works for the retail and OEM versions of the drive, but I'm not sure if it is true for the Lite-On model. The Lite-On SOHC-5232K is the OEM version of the Sony drives, so I would assume that the turbo mode is with the LIte-On also.

Region problems: solved! (sony crx320e)

Hi guys, I'm posting this just in case anyone finds it useful.

Ok, firstly, the latest firmware (nyk5) is available at

http://forum.rpc-1.com/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1805

Secondly, I was having a problem with the drive only being able to change dvd region a maximum of 5 times before being locked to whatever region you change to last is. Just under the firmware links at the above address, there's a link for a program called LtnRPC, which quickly and easily disables the counter, and it took me 30 seconds to make the drive region-free! :D

Anyway, I hope this helps anyone having the same problem.

Have fun, I'm gonna order those american Mystery Science Theatre 3000 DVDs now! (they're funny, if you like sci, give it a go!)
