some new mail not showing in inbox

This just started today. When some new mail (not all) arrives, it shows up in
the parentheses next to the (Example: Inbox(3)) in the Mail pane on the left,
but it does not show up in the Inbox pane. The only way I can access it is by
filtering for unread messages. Even after reading it, it still is not showing
in the inbox. I have no filters set. Any ideas?

I discovered the problem. My email server was delaying delivery of some
emails (cause unknown). But they were coming in two or more days late.
Outlook was putting them in the Inbox under the date they were sent, so they
were a few days down the list and not easily seen. If this happens again, at
least I'll know to scroll down to look for unopened mail.
