I had a very slow start up after I have installed ADSL
for broadband connection. After the wallpaper came out I
have to wait 1-2 minutes before other startup programs
(e.g. Norton Antivirus, Kerio firewall) are loaded.

I have installed RASPPPOE but the problem still remains.
Appreciate any help on this. THanks

Do you have some sort of "connection manager" that has to load to start
your adsl service? Go to Start>Run and type "msconfig" without the
quotes and look on the Startup tab to see what is starting with
Windows. Many times ISP's will load support programs and other
unnecessary programs with their software that can really slow you down.
The only way to find out if the programs are really unnecessary is to
disable them from Startup and then see if you can connect. If you need
more help, please repost and include some details about your
connection, any entries you see in Startup relating to your adsl, and
the name of your ISP. You might also want to scan for spyware if you
haven't done so already. Remove spyware with Spybot Search & Destroy
from www.security.kolla.de and Ad-aware from www.lavasoftusa.com. Be
sure to update these programs before running them. It is best to run
antivirus and spyware removal tools in Safe Mode.

Cheers,

Malke
