Shortcuts not working

Trev

Win XP home SP1 and all the latest

So I messed up something in the registry yesterday and now the Desktop
shortcut icons and the all programme ones or for that mater any keyboard
shortcut to application do not left click to open I can right click and
pick open which works fine but the left click adds the location to
clipboard only . All the folder icons in the all programs show as
unallocated icons (the brown folder with a white explore type window
with 6 icons in front).
also If I try to add a kb short cut in the properties for any of those
shortcut pressing shift, ctrl. or alt, enters Ctrl+Alt+ the disappears
as I let go of the key.

I tried a restore to two previous points to no avail witch means I can
not use last good (should have done that instead of restore)

Hi Trev,

You need to repair the .lnk file association. Go to www.dougknox.com, click
on WinXP fixes. Go to file association fixes, then download the shortcut
(.lnk) fix and run it.
