I recently set up a home network, and want to share the scanner. I am unable
to figure out how, please give me some pointers.

Thanks in advance.

I tried that once, about 10 years ago. Peer-to-peer LAN with the IPX/SPX
protocol (Novell Personal Netware 1.1). I could get connected to the
scanner, but never quite got full functionality. Then I thought about what
I was doing...

Go to scanner, put item to be scanned in scanner. Go to remote computer
(upstairs?), run scan. Go to scanner, remove item that was just scanned.
Then it hit me between the eyes: "Why?" Or, more like: "Why not scan from
the computer with the scanner to a folder on the remote computer?"

So, I am no longer interested in sharing the scanner. If I need the scanned
document on the upstairs computer, I go to the downstairs computer, load
the document to be scanned, then scan the image to a folder on the upstairs
computer. I have to physically put the document into the scanner, so I have
to be where the scanner is to scan it. I can send the scanned image to any
other computer on the LAN. Shared scanning seems rather pointless; to me,
anyway.

OK. I know it does not answer your question about, "how"; but I suspect
that I am not alone in seeing how pointless it is. You will probably find
that only a geek, who does things because they can be done, will have an
answer. I don't know how many of those hang out in this neighborhood.

That is a good solution. Thank you!!!
