When I navigate to the directory "C:\Documents and Settings\All
Users\Documents" I see "Shared Music" and "Shared Video", with their special
icons, but instead of "Shared Pictures", I actually see "My Pictures". And
it doesn't have its special icon. In addition, if I have the Explorer open
to "My Pictures" (that is, C:\Documents and Settings\Bruce\My Documents\My
Pictures), then the "task pane" on the left shows "My Pictures" in the
"Other Places" section instead of "Shared Pictures". Hovering the mouse over
that shows "Size: 9.05 GB XX Folders: ..." where the XX are two boxes
(unprintable characters? signifying something corrupt?), and the icon is a
basic folder, not the special folder.
I recently reinstalled this machine with Windows XP Professional, then
downloaded every Windows Update patch (including SP1).
I verified that "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\My
Pictures\Desktop.ini" exists, is attrib'ed +S +H, and has what some web
sites have said is the correct content, namely:
[.ShellClassInfo]
[email protected],-12688
IconFile=%SystemRoot%\system32\mydocs.dll
IconIndex=-101
[email protected],-28997
I installed TweakUI and used its Repair->Rebuild Icons functionality. That
didn't fix it.
This seems pretty minor but it sure is annoying for it to be broken...
Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks,
Bruce
