Im trying to install windows XP professional on a brand
new system i have made, unfortunatly im having problems
with the installer. the motherbaord is a Gigabyte 8KNXP
P4 Titan series 875P and the drive i have attahed to it
is a serial ATA maxtor model # 6Y080M0 .

The problem is, after running through the first part of
the installer, where it asks for raid drivers etc, it
carries on through with out a glitch.. its only when it
ocmes to the actual physical installing, that the setup
reports that there's no hdd present.. its picke dup fine
in the bios, post etc, its not set up in any way shape or
form fo be in a raid array, and so.. im kinda stuck. cant
seem to find anything on the MB cd that could constitute
a serial ata driver. incase thats what would be needed.

any help would be gratfully received!

Try booting from xp cd,it will ask if you want to install
Raid or scsi, when activated you need to install the
software from a disk or floppy, the installation takes
place, after set-up,you can exit any time.

Had similar problem, i don't think u need drivers, i
think u have to set up the SATA as the secondary boot
device. CDROM first, SATA second, IDE third, etc. since
SATA in not mainstream yet, IDE is the secondary boot
device, after the CDROM in most BIOS set-ups. check the
manual that came with the MB. had to do the same with my
ASUS P4P.
