Selecting reply address to be same as original receiving address

I have 2 accounts on Outlook. When I attempt to reply to a message sent to
my default address, Outlook wants to send via the other account. How can I
ensure that all replies will be sent from the same account they were sent to?

Thanks in advance for any and all assistance.

Behaving as designed. Change the account yourself before you send the
message.

Thanks for your reply.... I have the suggested solution already implmented.
However, the account that the reply is being directed to is not the default
account. Why would Outlook be designed to do this?

Outlook is designed to send replies using the account over which the message
is received. Most users want that. Very few would see any need to send a
message back over a different account.

The heart of the question lies in the fact that the message is received on
the default account, yet the reply is automatically directed to be sent from
the secondary account, and I must manually re-direct it to the correct
(default) account. I apologize if this is not clear.

Indeed, that was not what you said and such behavior is inexplicable. It is
not the way Outlook works or was designed. Time to provide the rest of the
information we would need (and always need): Outlook version, mail account
types, whether your Outlook profile ever worked as designed, and if so what
steps lead to this behavior.

Thanks for your patience....

Outlook version is 2003
All accounts are POP/SMTP
I cannot say whether the accounts ever worked correctly, as the issue was
brought to my attention by a message recipient, and they indicate that my
replys have been coming from the secondary account as long as they have
copies of my messages.

Not sure what you mean by "secondary." If you can confirm that Outlook
automatically sent a reply over an account other than the one from which it
was received, that would be fascinating, and a first. Please provide the
precise steps to repro this behavior so I can report it.

Outlook should be sending the reply via the account with which the original
was received. Are you saying it's not?

Are you positive the message was received via the default account? Can you
add the Account column to your table view and check?
