I have a problem with the Search Companion. No matter what
I try to search the answer is always the same: don't find
any file or folder.
I tried *.doc, or *.temp or any other combination and give
me no results at all.
How I repair this problem?

Best Regards

Hi!
Open Explorer and go to the Windows\Inf folder. Locate the srchasst.inf
file. Right click it and select Install. You'll need your XP CD or the
files from the I386 folder. (This fix will require you to have your Win
XP CD).

The Windows\Inf folder is a hidden folder. You can adjust your Explorer
Folder Options (View tab) to Show hidden files and folders. You can also
click Start, Run and enter %SystemRoot%\Inf to open directly to the Inf
folder.

The Search Companion does not use wildcards. That is one of its defects. You
can only use text strings. It will then find every file with that string in
it. Change *.doc to doc and you will get all .doc files as well as any file
with doc anywhere in the name.
