THANK YOU VERY MUCH !!
Adobe Photoshop has a very good Help file - you should use it.
Basically, all the work you do on an image in Photoshop goes into a
temporary area like a swap file. Photoshop calls this a "scratch disk",
I believe. For best results, that "scratch" area should be on a second
hard drive or at least a separate partition from the one on which
Photoshop is installed. You can do it on the same partition/drive if
you have only the one, but if you do a lot of Photoshop work, you
should probably get yourself a second hard drive. Also, Photoshop is an
extremely memory-intensive program because all those things you're
doing to an image are held in memory. You didn't say anything about
your computer specs, but I certainly wouldn't want to be working in
Photoshop with less than 512MB of RAM, and probably more would be
better.
