Scanpst without Outlook

Is there any way to use Scanpst without having Outlook installed? We have
large .pst files on our DC's that, when corrupt, have to be copied locally as
we do not install Office on them (and our 3rd party program doesn't work all
of the time). Is there any way to just copy needed files onto a computer
without having to install the entire Outlook program?

Ah, connecting to pst-files on a networkshare? You've just found your main
source of corruption. Microsoft doesn't recommend or support this
configuration. Store your pst-files locally and use the pst backup add-in to
store a copy on a backed up location.

Copying the required exe and dll-files and registering them could work but
is not guaranteed to work without issues. Also take the EULA into
consideration.

Wow, another road block in the mess that is Outlook. I was not aware of
this, but unfortunately the .pst files MUST be backed up on a nightly
basis...which is more important than the time it takes to fix the ones that
get corrupt. I guess there will be no relief for me :-(

Thank you for your response though!

What mess? I guess you are running Exchange? Instead of client-side
archiving you might want to consider server-sider archiving. This much more
efficient in terms of MBs being used and will also give you centralized
administration and get rid of the pst-mess.
